I was interested to read of different European cities’ attitudes towards children here, thanks to the BBC website. Joanna Robertson who is currently based in Berlin and who has two daughters has written this interesting piece looking at how cities show different cultural and social norms regarding child-rearing and how others regard your children.
It makes me wonder about whether my DD would be fine in another country. Would she take it in her stride? Or wish that she were in her current unstructured preschool? I know that she can turn on the charm and I certainly hope that she brings a large amount of it with her when we finally go to Italy to visit our friends. Charm combined with cuteness and good manners can soften many people. I hope.
